Former Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp is to be an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE).

The award from the UK's King Charles III is for services to football and the community in Liverpool. It was first announced by the UK government in February but was buried in the middle of a general listing.

Klopp's management agency SPORTFIVE confirmed the news on Monday.

It is unclear if the 58-year-old Gerrman, who won the Premier League and Champions League at Liverpool between 2015 an 2024, has already received the medal which comes with the order.

Non-UK nationals can receive honorary versions of the British awards.

Dutchwoman Sarina Wiegman, who led England's women footballers to two European Championship titles, is an honorary dame but cannot use the title.
