IDP Rookie Profile: Colton Hood in Redraft Leagues

We will start with some rookie profiles and how they fit into the landscape of the teams that drafted them. Next up is New York Giants cornerback Colton Hood.

His final college season was his best, as he posted 50 tackles, one interception, five pass breakups, and earned a 79.2 overall defensive grade from PFF. His press-man ability, physicality, and competitive play style give him a chance to develop into a starting outside corner.

Reason to Believe in Colton Hood in 2026: Cornerback traits are there
Hood has the type of skill set that can eventually translate into a starting role. He is physical at the line of scrimmage, comfortable playing press coverage, and has enough recovery speed to stay competitive when receivers test him vertically.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe issue is opportunity. New York currently lists him behind Greg Newsome II at right cornerback, which likely makes Hood a reserve defensive back and special-teams contributor to begin his rookie season unless he beats out Newsome in camp.
Still, rookie cornerbacks can become useful in IDP leagues if they get on the field. If Hood earns snaps or is forced into action due to injury, quarterbacks may test him early, creating opportunities for tackles and pass breakups.
Hood should not be drafted in most redraft IDP leagues. His current depth chart spot makes his weekly role too difficult to trust, especially in formats that do not require cornerbacks.
