IDP Rookie Profile: Kamari Ramsey in Redraft Leagues

We will start with some rookie profiles and how they fit into the landscape of the teams that drafted them. Next up is Houston Texans defensive back Kamari Ramsey.

His best season came in 2024 at USC, when he posted 43 tackles, two sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, and earned an 88.1 coverage grade from PFF. That background in coverage gives him a path to sub-package work in Houston.

Reason to Believe in Kamari Ramsey in 2026: Sub-package versatility
Ramsey’s clearest path to the field comes through his coverage versatility. Houston lists him behind Jalen Pitre at nickel, which is not an easy depth chart spot, but it does give Ramsey a defined role to chase instead of being buried without a plan.

He has experience playing near the line of scrimmage, from the slot, and in deeper coverage looks, giving the Texans flexibility if they want to use him as a matchup piece.
The problem is opportunity. Pitre is already established in the nickel role, while Houston has strong pieces around him in Derek Stingley Jr., Kamari Lassiter, Reed Blankenship, and Calen Bullock. That likely leaves Ramsey competing for special teams snaps and limited defensive work as a rookie.
Ramsey should not be drafted in standard redraft IDP leagues. His projected role is too small, and the Texans have enough secondary depth to keep him from seeing consistent weekly snaps early.

His coverage grades show there is something to work with, and Houston’s defense has enough talent up front to make life easier for defensive backs who earn playing time.
For 2026, Ramsey is a deep watch-list player only. Unless injuries create a larger role, his fantasy value will likely stay limited to dynasty formats and deeper IDP leagues.
