The NFL offseason is far from over for teams still searching the free-agent market. Many franchises continue looking for depth pieces or potential starters as they finalize their rosters for the 2026 season. The Indianapolis Colts appear to be one of those teams, with a particular focus on strengthening their defense.

According to reports, the Colts are seriously considering signing former Los Angeles Chargers first-round pick Joey Bosa. Bosa has taken a patient approach to free agency, and timing could ultimately determine where he lands. Indianapolis has a clear need at edge rusher and could offer him a significant role with plenty of playing time.

While Bosa is no longer the dominant force he was earlier in his career, he remains a productive defender capable of making an impact. If he hopes to maintain a starting role, the Colts could provide an ideal opportunity.

Bosa signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills last offseason and started 15 games for their defense. He finished the year with five sacks, five forced fumbles, and nine tackles for loss. Although those numbers fall short of the production he posted during his peak seasons, they demonstrate that he still has plenty left to offer.

The Colts are also reportedly evaluating several other veteran Pro Bowl pass rushers. Cameron Jordan, Jadeveon Clowney, and Leonard Floyd were all mentioned in the report as players to watch. Indianapolis clearly wants to add a proven veteran opposite Laiatu Latu.

At the moment, the Colts have a competition developing between J.T. Tuimoloau, Micheal Clemons, and Arden Key. Tuimoloau appears to be the frontrunner, as Indianapolis is counting on the 2025 second-round pick to take a significant step forward in 2026.

Adding a veteran such as Bosa would allow the Colts to continue developing Tuimoloau while also giving the defense a reliable edge presence opposite Latu.

The Chargers selected Bosa with the third overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Over his 10-year career, he has earned five Pro Bowl selections and won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He has also compiled 77 career sacks, 22 forced fumbles, and 96 tackles for loss.

Will Bosa ultimately join the Colts as they look to return to the postseason after narrowly missing out in 2025?
