Is Australia out of World Cup after loss to Egypt?
Australia's 2026 World Cup tour has come to an end. The Aussies went down in an instant classic, falling 4-2 on penalty kicks to Egypt after their July 3 match was tied 1-1 after extra time.
The Aussies struggled to find their chances, scoring on an own-goal header by Egypt's Mohamed Hany in the 55th minute. That inability to find the back of the net continued into penalty kicks, as Australia missed two of four chances before Egypt sealed the win with four consecutive conversions.
