The Israeli military said on Wednesday it had killed a Hezbollah member in an exchange of fire in southern Lebanon.

The "terrorist" was shot dead the previous day after opening fire on Israeli soldiers in the Bint Jbeil area, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Telegram.

According to the IDF, troops were searching a structure inside a security zone in the area, where an IDF reservist had been seriously wounded last Thursday.

The military said the attacker's fire was returned immediately and no Israeli soldiers were injured in the latest operation in the area.

"The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat to its troops and will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to harm Israeli civilians," the military said.
