Thousands of Israelis are demanding an independent inquiry into the Hamas-led attacks of October 7 2023, widely regarded as Israel's gravest security failure. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government has refused, proposing instead a committee of political appointees with a limited mandate. Bereaved families, still without answers or accountability, have taken their case to Israel's High Court.
