Javon Tracy looked like the Gophers' WR1. Is he?

Gophers' wide receiver Javon Tracy had an all-time great performance to open the season against Eastern Illinois. He became the first player in program history to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game, but will he be Minnesota's WR1 going forward?

Tracy came to Minnesota last season via the transfer portal after two seasons at Miami (OH). He had a relatively up-and-down 2025 season with 37 catches for 454 yards and six touchdowns. The return of Jalen Smith and the addition of Cincinnati transfer Noah Jennings gave Minnesota three impressive options at receiver in 2026, but Tracy showed on Thursday that he might be in a tier of his own.
