Justin Verlander fights back tears in heartwarming retirement ceremony

Friday was an emotional night for Justin Verlander and Detroit Tigers fans. The Tigers honored Verlander with a pregame retirement ceremony before playing the Pittsburgh Pirates, celebrating one of the most impactful players in franchise history.

In Detroit, Verlander won American League Rookie of the Year, MVP and made the All-Star Game six times. He's second in franchise history in both pitching WAR (56.4) and strikeouts (2,374). Tigers fans made sure to show their appreciation with a standing ovation for No. 35 as he delivered an emotional speech and his 7-year-old daughter threw him the first pitch.
