Centre-back Paul Kalambayi wants Barrow's opponents to feel the same dread of playing at Holker Street that he once did.

The former AFC Wimbledon defender, 27, joined Barrow from Dagenham & Redbridge last month.

As Adam Murray's side attempt to bounce back to the EFL at the first time of asking, Kalambayi believes a key factor is making their home territory as unwelcoming as possible.

Barrow won just five of their home games last season as they were relegated to the National League.

"I remember back in the days when I played against Barrow, I hated coming here," Kalambayi told BBC Radio Cumbria. "I'm thinking: 'Oh no, we've got Barrow today'.

"We want to keep that same feeling, same atmosphere, same pressure, same hate of going to Barrow for everyone else.

"We need that support. We need that noise."

Since arriving, Kalambayi has found a determination to put the wrongs of last season right amongst his new team-mates.

"When it's fresh in your mind, it hurts," he said. "Obviously players that were here are hurting and players that have come here have come here with an objective to get the club where it needs to be.

"You put that together and you get that spark that we need.

"With the gaffer and how successful he has been with previous teams, we've got the best combination.

"Now it's just about hard work and putting that all together."
