Kilmallie survived a fierce three-goal comeback from favourites Lovat to win the Ferguson Balliemore Cup, shinty's intermediate title, 4-3 at Spean Bridge.

Meanwhile, the MKM Oban MacAulay Cup final in Oban on 22 August will match Oban Camanachd and holders Kingussie for the fifth year in a row following Camanachd's 10-0 rout of Kyles, while Kingussie defeated Skye 4-0 in the other semi-final.

Newtonmore went seven points clear in the Mowi Premiership but with two extra games played following a 5-0 away win over Caberfeidh, while Kinlochshiel and Fort William drew 2-2 at Rearaig.

And a 5-1 defeat of Glasgow Mid Argyll at Yoker sent Glenurquhart four points clear in the National Division but with two extra games played.

Despite trailing well behind Lovat in the league, Kilmallie rushed to a 3-0 lead in just half an hour of the Ferguson Balliemore Cup final through a Calum MacDougall double and Shane O'Rua.

When Archie MacNiven made it 4-0 just before the hour, it looked all over until Lovat's response from Danny Kelly and two from Craig MacKinnon.

However, unlike the previous Saturday, where Lovat came back from 2-0 down to claim league victory over the same opponents, Kilmallie held on to win the trophy for the first time since 2018.

At Mossfield, Oban Camanachd ran riot with hat-tricks from Ross Campbell and Lewis Cameron along with singles from Lorne Dickie, Connor Howe, Malcolm Clark and Callum MacMillan.

Skye made it difficult for Kingussie in the first half at Beauly, restricting the holders to a single early goal from veteran Lee Bain.

So it remained until after the hour, when the floodgates opened with Bain's second, bookended by strikes from Thomas Borthwick and Toby Thain.

Newtonmore kept the Premiership title race in their own hands when Euan Dingwall's goal in the opening minute was followed by Iain Robinson, Arron MacBean and Matthew Sloss in the first half and another from Robinson in the second.

Troubled Oban Celtic failed to raise a team to travel to Bute and were docked two points taking them to minus two - and the game will be rescheduled.
