Knoxville Catholic utility DJ Lowery has committed to Louisville baseball for 2027, he announced on July 16.

Lowery took a visit to Louisville on July 14 and didn't take long before making his commitment.

"Louisville seemed really interested in me and I wanted to see their campus, so they got me on an official visit and I liked everything I heard and saw," Lowery told Knox News. "And they really fit what I need as I get older."

The recruiting process picked up heavily for Lowery this summer. He fielded interest from power conference schools such as Cincinnati and Clemson, as well as Jacksonville State.

"We're extremely proud of DJ and excited for the opportunity he's earned," Catholic baseball coach Caleb Moore told Knox News. "He's an exceptional athlete and it's been fun to see the way he's matured throughout his time in our program. He's developed into a complete player and an outstanding young man. Louisville is getting someone who will compete, represent their program the right way, and make a positive impact both on and off the field."

Lowery was a PrepXtra first team selection following the 2026 TSSAA baseball season. He won Offensive Player of the Year honors in the Division II-AA East Region with a .430 batting average, 49 hits, 38 RBIs, 12 home runs, nine doubles and four triples. He was also one of the best baserunners across the state with 35 stolen bases without being caught.

Lowery led Catholic to the DII-AA state tournament. The Irish dropped their first round series to Montgomery Bell, 2-1.
