Across the opening few days, J.J. McCarthy was gaining ground. Not so after the Saturday practice.

A chorus of people online sung the praises of Kyler Murray for the effort he put in earlier in the day. Consider what Alec Lewis of The Athletic had to say: "Vikings first practice in front of fans just ended. Kyler Murray was very sharp today. Completed all sorts of passes from the pocket. The operation looked clean. J.J. McCarthy's timing seemed a tad off, late on some misfires. Kyler took most snaps with 1s, J.J. with 2s."
