Lake Elsinore works back into winning

The San Diego Padres' Single-A affiliate, the Lake Elsinore Storm, rebounded with a strong week, going 5-1 in their six-game series versus the Stockton Ports while seeing the debut of LHP Adler Cecil into full-season Padres baseball.

With his 2024 UCL surgery in the rearview mirror, Cecil spent all of 2025 rehabbing and made his 2026 debut with the ACL Padres. Cecil, 21, started nine games/13 appearances for 41.1 innings with a 4.79 ERA. He had 70 strikeouts and 22 walks in those games. After the end of the ACL season, Cecil was assigned to Lake Elsinore. He made his first start on July 30, pitching 4.1 innings with a hit and no runs allowed, three walks, and five strikeouts.
