It didn't take long for LeBron James to attract talent to Philadelphia. The 76ers are planning to sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope after he and the Memphis Grizzlies finalize a buyout, according to NBA on Prime's Chris Haynes.

Caldwell-Pope, 33, won an NBA title with James back in 2020, serving as a key 3-point shooter and defender for Frank Vogel's Los Angeles Lakers. KCP played three seasons with James, finishing 11th in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2020-21, before leaving and winning another championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023.

The past two seasons saw Caldwell-Pope in Orlando and then Memphis, where he played only 14 games a year ago due to surgery on his right pinky finger. He's expected to be ready to go in 2026-27.

Now, the 76ers likely need to add center depth because of Joel Embiid's injury history. Nick Richards, Bismack Biyombo and Mason Plumlee are some of the budget options still remaining in free agency.

James announced his Sixers move Friday, stunning the world by picking Philly over the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. New teammates such as Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe are already embracing him, as is the city of Philadelphia.
