Jack Campbell played the best hockey of his NHL career in Toronto with the Maple Leafs.

That culminated in the 2021-22 season, when Campbell was an All Star. He went 31-9-6 with a 91.4 save percentage and a 2.64 goals against average.

A handful of years later, Campbell is calling it quits.

He announced his retirement with a heartfelt post on Instagram that included this description of hockey: "It gave me more than I could have ever imagined."

Campbell was originally from Port Huron, Michigan, and the Dallas Stars chose him with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.

He spent two seasons in the OHL before joining the AHL Texas Stars, but Dallas only brought him up to play in one NHL game in a four-season span.

They traded him to the Kings in 2016, and he got 49 starts over three seasons in Los Angeles.

From there, he was traded to the Leafs, where he found his most NHL comfort.

That All-Star season in Toronto earned him a five-year, $25 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers, but he didn't keep his form going there and was bought out in 2024 after Stuart Skinner had taken over the starting job from him.

Campbell played for AHL Grand Rapids in 2024-25 and wasn't under contract during the 2025-26 season.

At 34 years old, Campbell shared in his post that he's going to join Novus Global, which helps coach executives, athletes and other professionals.

Campbell's days in goal are over, and he's moving on to his next chapter.
