CHICAGO (WGN) —  Concern is growing in Chicago and Oak Park for two men who went missing in Mexico City.  

Friends say the married couple, Zafar Mawani and Guillermo Ortiz, went silent eight days ago.  

One worked for years at an Italian restaurant. Workers say they are becoming concerned about their friends who they have not heard from in more than a week.  

Both moved to Mexico City this past fall and may have been helping an elderly relative with Alzheimer's. Friends told WGN-TV reports of withdrawals from the couple's bank accounts during the time they've gone silent are also concerning.

Mexican authorities say they are looking into the matter  

The couple is described as wonderful people, thoughtful, and very much missed in the community, and the hope is that they're doing OK.
