The New York Mets aren't going to have a key cog in the middle of the lineup for the foreseeable future.

On Thursday, Mets slugger Mark Vientos was hit by a pitch on his hand and suffered a bone fracture, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

"News: Mark Vientos suffered a bone fracture on that HBP. The Mets aren't offering more details at the moment, but he's obviously going to miss weeks," DiComo wrote.

Simply put, this is a brutal blow. Vientos is landing on the Injured List.

Before landing on the Injured List, Vientos had 11 homers and 35 RBIs in 72 games. Last season, he had 17 homers and 61 RBIs in 121 games played. Now, the Mets are missing that big bat for the foreseeable future.
