The MLB Draft was ongoing this past weekend, giving prep players the opportunity to hear their names called, and prepare for the next level of the sport.

In the fifth round of the MLB Draft, Michigan State closer Nolan Higgins was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays used the No. 164 overall pick to secure the Spartans closer.

Higgins, a 6-foot-4 right handed pitcher, is a native of Wixom (MI) and graduated high school from Orchard Lake St. Mary's. In four years with the Spartans, Higgins pitched in 75 games, holding a 6.76 ERA. The Spartan senior will now look to turn to a professional career.
