Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton is putting together another excellent season. The 32-year-old battled injuries throughout the first decade of his big-league career, but he has seemingly turned a corner now in his 30s.

Buxton has dealt with recurring hip issues this year, but for the most part he has stayed healthy and continued to perform at an elite level.

Across 73 games, he has posted a .268 batting average, .325 on-base percentage, .898 OPS, 25 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has been the most valuable player on a Twins team that sits at 43-47 past the midway point of the season, far outperforming expectations, and Buxton is the biggest reason why.

As the All-Star break approaches, Buxton entered Saturday looking to earn his spot on the American League team. He got past Phase 1 of voting and advanced to Phase 2, and for the first time in his career he earned enough votes to be named an All-Star starter.

This marks his third career selection overall, but the first time he has been voted in as a starter instead of a reserve. The Twins wasted no time celebrating the moment on social media.

"⭐️ Hey now, Buck’s an All-Star (again)! ⭐️ Congratulations to Byron Buxton for being voted in to the 2026 All-Star Game!" the team wrote on X.

For Buxton, this is yet another big accomplishment in what has become a remarkable career resurgence. Fortunately for Twins fans, he is also here to stay.

Speculation continued to grow throughout June about whether Minnesota would trade Buxton. Even though the Twins are technically in the playoff race in a weak American League, they are not really contenders, and given how Buxton has played this year he would likely bring back a valuable package of prospects for the future.

However, a trade will not be happening. Buxton himself has voiced that he is not willing to waive his no-trade clause, and general manager Jeremy Zoll has said the organization has no desire to move him either.

For now, Buxton will head to the All-Star Game alongside right-hander Joe Ryan to represent the Minnesota Twins. It is a fitting reward for a player who has spent over a decade fighting through injuries to reach this level of sustained excellence, and for a fan base that has stuck by him through all of it, seeing him earn a starting spot is a moment worth celebrating.
