A team looking to get anything back on track in the win column needs to have every single part of a lineup working in tandem. The Colorado Rockies are still in last place in the National League West Division, but the team knows that they need a lot more wins.

But the Rockies faced Milwaukee Brewers' ace Jacob Misiorowski on Sunday at American Family Field. Misiorowski pitched five innings and struck out 12 Colorado batters. While the game was close going into the bottom of the sixth, that didn't keep the Brewers from piling on runs once the Rockies' bullpen came into the game.

Colorado starting pitcher Kyle Freeland took the loss, going to 2-10 this season. Freeland worked 5.1 innings, giving up six hits, five earned runs, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one home run. Freeland now has a 7.34 ERA, putting him square on the possible trading block by the Rockies ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline on Aug. 3.

Misiorowski, though, deserves to get a lot of credit. "The Miz" was not originally scheduled to start on Sunday, but that all was changed around by Brewers manager Pat Murphy. Misiorowski delivered in his five innings, giving up just one hit and one earned run. All of that came via a Cole Carrigg solo blast over the left-field wall in the top of the fifth inning.

Well, that was the lone hit Misorowski gave up in his time on the mound. Misiorowski goes to 11-4 this season with a lowered 1.58 ERA. Five Brewers relievers followed Misiorowski to the mound, keeping Colorado hitters pretty much in check.

Rockies' hitters held in check

The Rockies had just five total hits against Brewers' pitching. Besides Carrigg's solo home run, Willi Castro connected for his 10th home run this season in the top of the seventh. That wrapped up Colorado's offensive output. Castro's name also has been involved in some trade talk ahead of the trade deadline, too.

After Freeland was removed from the game by Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer, Jimmy Herget, Victor Vodnik, and Brent Sullivan came in to try and slow down Milwaukee. Those three pitchers gave up a combined six earned runs.

This wasn't one of those games that the Rockies will want to keep the video of at all. They were dominated not only by Misiorowski, but the Brewers' bullpen, too.

Final score: Brewers 11, Rockies 2.

Milwaukee remains in first place in the NL Central.

Maybe it's time for Colorado to truly take a dive into the MLB Trade Deadline and see who they can get back in return for some deals. A lot of eyes will now turn to Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and general manager Josh Byrnes, watching what they do in the next week.
