Missouri State sells out first football game since 2015
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — While the Bears were unable to come out victorious in their game against the Marshall Thundering Herd, they won in another way.

30-minutes before kickoff, Plaster Stadium shut down all of their box offices. Why? Because the game was completely sold out.
This is the first time Missouri State has seen a football sell out since 2015, and Coach Casey Woods says it speaks to the growing fanbase on campus and in the Springfield community.
"Well, it's real important I think for our university, it's important for the city of Springfield to be invested in all those things" head coach Casey Woods shared with Ozarks First. "I'm happy for our players they wanna play in front of a crowd like this, you know, and have the opportunity to do that."
While this is only Coach Woods second home game with the team, he recognizes that this turnout isn't just because of those on the field.
"Big attaboy to our student section whose really lead that, plus fraternity & sorority life man, they've really stepped up and been a part of bringing the energy on that side of the stadium."
In the past, Missouri State has struggled to get consistent support from fans during their football season. However, it looks like this year could be different.
Saturday's total attendance was 16,010 fans: the 4th largest home crowd in Bears football history. The all-time record is 18,386 which was achieved in the 2014 home opener against North Dakota.
During an interview with Ozarks First, Coach Woods made one thing clear. "You know this has got to be the new standard," he said. "This is what we can do in Springfield. We are going to celebrate tonight, be part of what the vision the people have, but we gotta continue to push this thing forward to be better every week."
Missouri State University will travel to Dallas, TX next week where they take on Coach Woods former team, Southern Methodist University.
SMU was ranked 16th in the country coming into week 3, suffering a loss to #23 Louisville.
