Major League Baseball made an optimistic decision, revealing the 2027 schedule despite a lingering labor battle.

The MLB Players’ Association and the owners are quite far apart in their talks over the latest version of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The league wants a salary cap, a salary floor, a much smaller draft, and no more high school players able to enter the draft, among other ideas, in their initial plan.

The MLBPA has responded with a flat-out rejection and included a proposal with a ton of aggressive ideas, including higher pay for younger players, a salary floor, and the ability for players to hit free agency earlier.

With so much distance in between both parties and a total lack of common ground, there is league-wide permission that the 2027 MLB season will start on time and be played in full.

At this point, even a short lockout looks increasingly likely.

However, despite how grim things may look for baseball to be played on a regular schedule in 2027, MLB has already released its schedules for the upcoming season.

LA is set to kick off the season against the Atlanta Braves on March 25th, playing a four-game home series to start the year.

Interestingly, the Dodgers would get the 26th off, marking a break after their first game, an odd quirk of the schedule.

Then, the Dodgers host the Minnesota Twins, before going out to Colorado and then Arizona.

The All-Star Game in 2027 would be hosted in Chicago on July 13th,

While it is exciting to imagine a 2027 season going off without a hitch, it is more likely than not that Opening Day will not happen for the Dodgers on March 25th.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said the owners are ready to present a unified front against the players.

“I have an ownership group that is more united than any group in my entire time in baseball,” he said.

On the other hand, the players seem more united than ever, which could lead to a war that ends in a few months or drags on even longer.
