- MLB draft 2026: Every Florida State baseball player selected
The 2026 MLB Draft has arrived, and it will be a busy weekend for the Florida State baseball program, with the Seminoles expected to see multiple players selected.
The Seminoles set a program record with 11 players selected in the 2025 draft, and that number could be reached, or even eclipsed, in the 2026 edition. While the season for FSU didn't end how the program wanted — a regional final exit to St. John's after going 40-19 in the regular season — the program had a talented squad that professional organizations will eye.

There are also prep prospects to monitor, like infielder Landon Thome, the son of Hall of Famer Jim Thome, and Jesuit standout pitcher Kaden Waechter, among others.

FSU outfielder Jim Lyttle was the first Seminoles' player to be a first-round draft pick. He was picked by the Yankees in 1966. He also played basketball for the Seminoles.
(FSU photo)The first round of the MLB Draft starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Follow all the FSU selections with our live updates.
RHP Brodie Purcell, Florida State
Buzz: Brodie Purcell goes to Cincinnati in the 12th round. He came on late for the Seminoles, and while he is secapitable to giving up a long ball, his velocity sits comfortably in the mid 90s. His decision to return or sign will be one to follow for FSU fans.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementRHP Cole Stokes, Florida State
Buzz: Cole Stokes goes to Tampa Bay, and with his 6-foot-6 frame, he'll be an interesting addition. His fastball can reach 100 MPH, and his slider has good break, but Stokes' struggles with command are noteworthy. His development will be interesting to follow.
RHP Bryson Moore, Florida State
Buzz: The righty is coming off his first full season of health at the collegiate level, and he finished the season strong. He has a fastball with some velocity, hitting 97, and a strong offspeed mix of a changeup and slider. If he remains healthy, he's a solid arm for Pittsburgh to develop.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementLHP Trey Beard, Florida State
Buzz: It wasn't the season many projected for Beard, but the big lefty produced for FSU late in the season. His changeup remains his biggest weapon, and when it's on, it's one of the hardest pitches to hit in his arsenal. He can flash into the mid-90s with his fastball. With a healthy season, Beard could be a quick riser through the minors.
OF Brayden Dowd, Florida State
Buzz: Dowd was one of the top additions in the transfer portal for FSU, and he was asked to carry a lot of the offensive load after Bailey's injury. He consistently had the best at-bats on the team and has good vision and plate discipline to pair with extra-base hit speed and power. He is more than capable in the outfield as a defender, and he has a good arm.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement1B Myles Bailey, Florida State
Round: Second round compensatory
Buzz: Few, if any, hitters in college possess the power of Bailey, which is comfortably 80-grade. One of the nation's best home run hitters before his season-ending ankle injury in March, Bailey hit 13 home runs in 26 games while playing above-average defense at first base. His recovery from his ankle injury will be the biggest question to answer, but he is a first-round talent and could fly through the minors for the Cubs.
LHP Wes Mendes, Florida State
MLB team: Houston Astros
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBuzz: The ACC Pitcher of the Year, Mendes became one of the best pitchers in the country this season for FSU with his mid-90s cutter and fastball mix pairing well with a devastating changeup. He can be a high-end starter if he lives up to his potential, and his stuff should translate well. He joins former Seminole Cam Smith in the Astros' organization.
RHP Kaden Waechter, Florida State signee / Jesuit
Round: Second Round
Overall pick: 55th
Buzz: The second prep signee to be drafted, RHP Kaden Waechter was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the second round with the 55th pick ($1.76 million slot value). A talented arm with plus velocity on his fastball, he comes from MLB lineage, with his dad, Doug, a former Tampa Bay Rays pitcher. He could sign for the organization, but honoring his commitment to FSU isn't out of the question.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement1B Landon Thome, Florida State signee / Nazareth Academy
Round: First round compensatory
Overall pick: 37th
Buzz: One of FSU's prep signees, Landon Thome, goes to Chicago on the back of a monster senior season with Nazareth Academy. He batted .533 with eight home runs, 35 RBIs, and a 1.676 OPS in his senior season, earning All-American honors. The likelihood of him making it to Tallahassee has lowered with that selection. The son of Hall of Famer Jim Thome, he can follow in his footsteps by playing for the White Sox.
