MN Twins Announce Coaching Changes

Expectations weren't exactly high for the Minnesota Twins this year. Sportsbooks set their preseason win total at 73.5, while projection systems had them closer to .500. They landed in between with a 77-85 record, but adding Jeff Hoffman at the deadline didn't spark a push, as they went 21-28 the rest of the way. Now that they've missed the postseason yet again, more dominoes are falling on the coaching staff.

Last season, Rocco Baldelli was shown the door, and third base coach Tommy Watkins and bench coach Jayce Tingler didn't return either. Rather than turn everything over, Derek Falvey opted to bring back retread manager (and former bench coach) Derek Shelton. Once ownership changed from Joe to Tom Pohlad, though, Falvey dipped as well.
