Modrzewski earns national honors for Week 1 performance

VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota football kicked off its season Saturday with a 59-20 win over Central Connecticut State, driven in large part by Austyn Modrzewski's six touchdown passes and more than 300 yards through the air.

The performance in his first collegiate start earned the redshirt freshman Stats Perform National Freshman of the Week honors, as well as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week awards.
