Netherlands public sector strike halts transport over welfare cuts
Public sector workers across the Netherlands are taking part in a 24-hour strike to protest government welfare cuts linked to plans for increased defence spending. The walkout has disrupted trains, buses and ferries, leaving Amsterdam Central Station largely deserted and affecting commuters as well as international travellers.
