NEW YORK - Chad Whitson will happily be taking a working vacation during his All-Star break.

Whitson, a Newark native, has been selected to umpire at second base July 14 during the MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia. It is Whitson's first All-Star assignment, which was announced by Major League Baseball on July 9.

Umpire Chad Whitson (62) calls Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (4) out at first after Detroit Tigers second base Andy Ibanez (77) catches the ball at Target Field in Minneapolis on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Whitson made his MLB debut in 2014. The game will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on FOX.
