Newcastle Tracking Strasbourg’s Defender for Summer Transfer: Report
Following the 2025-26 season, Newcastle United are short of options at right-back after the departures of Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth.
Tino Livramento is currently the only established senior right-back left in the squad, making the position a clear summer priority.

“Newcastle United are eyeing a right-back in this summer’s transfer window,” Newcastle World’s Jordan Cronin reported. “According to French publication Jeunes Footeux, the Magpies are considering a move for RC Strasbourg defender Guela Doue.”
Doue joined Strasbourg from Stade Rennais for around £5million and has become an important player for the French club, so convincing them to sell their man so quickly won’t be easy. The 23-year-old is also the older brother of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Desire Doue.
“Doue is one of the players attracting strong interest and could be allowed to leave if an offer around £25million ‘minimum’ is received,” Cronin reported.

“The Ligue 1 club don’t want to sell the 23-year-old but, as per the report, are being forced to reconsider their stance due to the ‘economic climate’,” Cronin wrote.
Doue made 34 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring twice and adding seven assists. The report also states the player is open to a Premier League move and fits what Newcastle are looking for.
