The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association released its district and region alignment on Tuesday for the 2026-27 season, according to the organization's website.

The sites for both the district and regional tournaments have yet be announced.

The district tournaments will be held on Feb. 13 at 32 sites across the Garden State. Regional competition will be wrestled the following weekend at eight sites.

Several South Jersey powerhouses will be on the move with the new alignment.

Kingsway, which is expected to be one of the area's top teams this winter, will face the biggest change as the Dragons head to District 22 and Region 6. It's the third different district in three years for the program.

"It doesn’t make any sense, but we're used to it not making sense," Kingsway head coach Mike Barikian said. "We're going to show up and wrestle whoever they want us to wrestle.

"But for a team that is off Exit 2 of the New Jersey Turnpike and we're going to travel to a district tournament an hour and a half away, it really doesn't make sense."

NJSIAA Tournament Director Howie O'Neil said he understands the concern for some teams over the new alignment, but called this year's version "the best balanced alignment we've had since going to the new system."

"Every year, there are three or four teams that are effected," he continued. "And under the current system, the top power teams most likely will have to travel. We've said that when we started this process."

Washington Township will be returning to Region 8 after spending last season in Region 7. Paulsboro and Southern Regional will make the switch to Region 7.
