Woody Hayes, the longtime public address announcer for Florida State’s home football games, famous for his That’s gooooood for another Florida State first down!” line, will be stepping down for the 2026 season — from the Tallahassee Democrat:
“16 years ago, I was given the incredible news that I would be the new voice of Doak Campbell Stadium,” Hayes said.
“I was proud to carry on the tradition that Mr. Nic Minakoff set for the 25 previous years. I’m grateful to have been a part of the game day atmosphere and a part of Seminole nation. ‘What’s next?’ you might ask. That’s all in God‘s hands. For he knows the plans that he has for me.
“To those who have supported me over the years, I’m eternally grateful, and I love each and every one of you… and that’s good for a Seminole farewell.”
Class of 2028’s No. 1 overall prospect Brysen Wright has FSU on his radar and told On3 that he and his family are looking for “proof of concept.”
Brad Crawford of CBS Sports has projected FSU to go back to a bowl game for the first time since 2023 with a record of 6-6, saying the Seminoles will lose to SMU, Alabama, Louisville, Miami, Clemson and Florida but beat New Mexico State, Central Arkansas, Virginia, Boston College, Pitt and NC State.
FSU Baseball has added another arm through the transfer portal, earning a commitment from Penn State RHP Isaiah Shayter:
Florida State beach volleyball alumni Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig were named First Team Academic All-Americans:
Durish, from Venice, Florida, and Koenig, from Wesley Chapel, completed the finest season in program history in 2026, combining for a 33-0 record and 22 wins over ranked opponents. The pair earned first-team All-American honors, were the Big 12 Pair of the Year and completed the third season in NCAA history with at least 33 wins and zero losses.
Durish earned her undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems with a 3.77 GPA and has a 3.90 GPA working towards her MBA. Koenig had a 3.94 undergraduate GPA while earning her Biological Sciences degree and a 3.86 graduate GPA in Public Health.
The pair is now competing professionally in tournaments across the globe and recently won gold at the BPT Challenge in Xiamen, China.
