Notre Dame vs. UNC: The key moments in series history

Notre Dame and North Carolina will meet this upcoming weekend, but they have a long history of playing one another. Initially, this was a series dominated by the Fighting Irish that started over 70-years ago.

The two programs first met on Nov. 12, 1949, at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Frank Leahy was the head coach of the Fighting Irish, and he led them to a dominant 42-6 victory on the way to an eventual National Championship. The Irish proceeded to win the next nine meetings between the two.
