MCHENRY — Cameron Goble found the go-ahead hit in the sixth in the Oakland Oaks’ 3-2 win over the Carmichaels Copperheads in Fayette County Baseball League action on Thursday at Garrett College.

Goble’s knock with two outs in the sixth broke a 2-2 tie. Luke Ross retired Carmichaels in order in the seventh for the save.

Oakland (2-2) received a strong start from Vincent Aloi, who gave up two unearned runs on two hits in six innings with a strikeout and four walks.

Easton Rhoten went 2 for 3 for the Oaks, which outhit Carmichaels, 7-2. Alex Kennell and Cody Cooper added an RBI each.

Carmichaels’ Dom Colarusso doubled, and Devin Fluhmann and Robbie Wilson-Jones scored the team’s lone runs on a two-out error in the first inning on a ground ball hit by Dom Obiecunas.

Ben Shields took the loss after giving up three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts to one walk in six innings pitched.

Oakland heads to Hutchinson Park in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, for a Sunday twinbill against Hopwood Village Park. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
