Packers bullish on Jordan Love’s new favorite target
Matt LombardoMon, June 8, 2026 at 6:27 PM UTC·2 min readTucker Kraft’s impact on Jordan Love and the Packers‘ passing game is no secret, but as the star tight end works his way back from a torn ACL, it’s another young weapon with immense upside who is suddenly benefiting the most from Kraft’s absence.
In the vacuum on the practice field that results from Kraft being sidelined, Dontayvion Wicks being in Philadelphia, and Romeo Doubs alongside A.J. Brown in New England, all eyes have been on Packers second-year wide receiver Matthew Golden.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Golden has been “a favorite target’ of Love’s throughout the Packers’ OTA practices this spring.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is taking notice.
“I think there’s a big step for guys coming into this league going into Year 2, and we expect that to happen,” coach Matt LaFleur said of Golden. “We’ve seen a lot of that out on the practice field.”
The Packers desperately need Golden, who didn’t catch a touchdown pass during the regular season as a rookie, to take the big step that his game-altering speed and strong spring seem to be telegraphing is possible.
If Golden can develop into a genuine weapon, he could be the kind of player who shifts the narrative on what the ceiling for Green Bay’s entire season can be in 2026, and beyond.
