Six people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City early on Tuesday, the Palestinian Civil Defence (PCD) agency reported.

A PCD spokesman said the victims were members of the same family and included four children.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the airstrike.

An Israeli military spokesman earlier announced that a man, described as a terrorist, had been killed. The spokesman said the man was suspected of participating in the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel and of subsequently holding Israeli hostages captive.

However, the name released by the Israeli military did not match that of the person identified by the PCD as having been killed in the airstrike.
