The New England Patriots are continuing to evaluate players in the open market this offseason as training camp rolls in.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the Patriots hosted Boston College tight end Jeremiah Franklin for a tryout on Thursday.

Franklin played at Boston College for all four years from 2022-2025. He recorded 506 receiving yards and two touchdowns as a senior in 2025.

The Patriots have a tight end unit consisting of starter Hunter Henry, as well as rookie backup Eli Raridon and veteran CJ Dippre. Patriots tight end Julian Hill suffered a season-ending knee injury this offseason, which narrowed down the team’s depth behind Henry for next season.

Franklin is in consideration to be brought on by the Patriots in the midst of players reporting for training camp, as veteran stars will report on Friday after rookies were required to report on Tuesday.
