District 1 No. 3 seed Upper Dublin defeated Southern Lehigh, 2-0, in the first round and Springfield-Delco, 2-1, in the quarterfinals.
Up next: The winner moves onto the state final Thursday at 4 p.m. at Penn State University’s Nittany Lion Softball Park to face off with the winner of the other semifinal between District 7 No. 4 seed Thomas Jefferson (19-5) and District 7 champion Shaler (22-1).
Breakdown: The Lady Comets enter Monday’s game with an 18-game winning streak, and last lost April 11 on the road at District 4 school Loyalsock. … Abington Heights, making its sixth PIAA appearance (9-5), looks to reach the state final for the first time. It is 0-3 in the semifinals. … The District 2 champion Lady Comets will try to make the state final via District 1. They beat that district’s No. 4 seed (Upper Moreland) and No. 1 seed (West Chester East) in their first two state games. … Junior and Syracuse commit Adrianna Condrad is 15-1 with a 1.40 earned-run average and 171 strikeouts. She also bats .494 (40 for 81) with 13 doubles, nine home runs, 16 runs and 35 RBIs. … Junior second baseman Eva Kane sparks the Lady Comets attack from the leadoff spot. She is batting .481 (38 for 79) with 13 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 40 runs and 14 RBIs. … Junior left fielder Avary Brister is batting .616 (53 for 86) with 17 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 40 runs and 43 RBIs. … Upper Dublin is making just its second PIAA appearance (3-1). It was her RBI single in the top of the sixth inning that broke a tie and gave Upper Dublin its quarterfinal win over Springfield-Delco.

It has not allowed a run since the bottom of the fifth inning May 5 against Scranton Prep — a span of 52 innings. … Abbi Call is a big reason why. The Clemson University-bound senior took a perfect game into the seventh inning in the quarterfinals and settled for a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts. Call is 15-2 with a 2.17 ERA and 150 strikeouts. In that game, pitcher Jamie Dinger tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout with no walks and seven strikeouts. … Dinger is back this season. The junior is 14-2 with a 0.76 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 100.2 innings. She also is batting .404 (36 for 89) with five doubles, one triple, three home runs and 24 RBIs. … Pine Grove lately also used junior Chelcy Clark in the circle. In seven postseason games, she is 9 for 17 with nine walks, five home runs and 10 RBIs. … Pine Grove, making its eighth PIAA appearance (16-5), and has 10 straight state playoff wins that includes winning the Class 3A state title in 2019 and last season. … Mid Valley allowed just one run in four playoffs games: a home run by Lake-Lehman’s Hannah Chipego in the District 2 championship game at Wilkes. … Junior pitcher Ava Hazelton has 613 career strikeouts and is 62-8 in her Spartanettes career.
