Pirates Roster Moves: Yates Back From IL, Doval DFA’d

The Pirates have reinstated right-handed reliever Kirby Yates from the 15-day injured list. To make room for him on the active roster, right-hander Camilo Doval was designated for assignment.

Yates was placed on the IL with a right shoulder impingement on Sep. 3 (retroactive to Aug. 31). In 13 appearances with the Pirates after he was acquired in a deadline deal with the Angels, the 39-year-old is 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA. Pittsburgh landed Yates for pitching prospect Kyle Robinson.
