Will the Pittsburgh Pirates really come out after having one of their better seasons in quite some time and decide to sell?

That's one of the bigger questions at the Major League Baseball trade deadline, and something I'm honestly a bit worried about. I don't think the Pirates would actually do that, but history suggests that we can't really trust this team at all times. The Pirates, who have a decent roster on paper, probably should be a bit better of a team than they currently are.

However, I'd say that, relatively speaking, we can't really be upset about a 50-47 record for a team that we've seen be one of the worst in Major League Baseball throughout the past few decades.

Going 7-3 over their last 10 before the All-Star break was a very big step in the right direction for a team that wants to buy, but there's still that quiet noise about potentially selling, and it includes second baseman Brandon Lowe.

Lowe, one of the better second basemen in baseball, would be an absolutely horrible player to move on from for a team that has a chance to make the postseason.

The buying aspect there is important, as the Pirates will need to add a bullpen arm or two if they decide to go that route.

I guess there's a possibility that the Pirates buy and sell some, something we've seen in the past, but I really hope they don't go in that direction. This is a team that has a chance to win some games in the second half and, at the very least, make the playoffs. That's a step in the right direction and something I want to see happen for this organization and its fan base.
