Powerful earthquake strikes southern Japan, causing destruction

A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Kyushu island in southwestern Japan on Tuesday, according to the Japanese Meteorological Agency, with local reports of at least one fatality and dozens missing under a partially collapsed mall.
