With Friday's pickup of Angel Laya, the LSU Tigers can now put together an elite lineup of hitters, which is mostly highlighted by their brand-new, dominant outfield filled with transfer portal hitters.

Here's a look at the projected starting lineup for the 2026 Tigers baseball team:

DH - Omar Serna Jr.

Serna was going to be a fun project player for the team to develop, but it didn't take long for him to find his footing at the college level. Now entering his sophomore campaign, he should be one of the most important parts of the offense. He get's on base a little bit less than some of his other peers, but it's not really a weakness. His swing has immense power potential, which is exciting seeing as though he hit nine bombs already with a .308 average.

C - Cade Arrambide

Arrambide was probably the Tigers' best batter last season with a .317/.417/.646 slash line to go with 18 home runs. It was a major step forward for the catcher, following an already promising freshman season. The 20-year-old will be a cornerstone player next year.

1B - Mason Braun

Braun was another great freshman surprise last season. He might not have hit for much power, but he was an on-base machine and could eventually be a leadoff guy for LSU. He had a .475 on-base % and had 35 walks to just 33 strikeouts. It's a great starting point, with the hope that he builds on that power. As a freshman, he hit three home runs. If he continues to reach base, though, the Tigers have enough talent around him to get him home.

2B - Cade Kurland

Kurland is about as proven a talent as LSU could have added this offseason. He has 193 collegiate games under his belt with 43 home runs and has slashed .276/.384/.469. He might not be the team's top slugger, but it would be shocking to

3B - Dawson Park

Park is coming off a great offensive season and is known for his defensive capabilities. Last year, for the Bobcats, Park slashed .301/.387/.575 with 13 home runs, 52 RBI and nine stolen bases. As a freshman, though, he had an OPS of just .614 with a similar sample size. Still, it's good that the better year happened as he developed in college. It's unclear how ready he is for SEC pitching, but he will be a great help in the field no matter what.

SS - Steven Milam

Johnson got Milam back out of the draft for one more season, meaning they get a true elite switch-hitter and a defensive ace to man shortstop. There are a lot of newcomers and young players in this lineup, so it'll be up to Milam to lead and help prepare these guys for what it means to play in Baton Rouge. He and Arrambide are the lone players in this lineup from the 2025 National Championship team. Milam is trying to win his third.

LF - Bino Watters

Watters is the No. 1 player in the portal, coming in to replace some of the production that the outfield is losing this offseason with both Derek Curiel and Jake Brown likely leaving for the draft.

The former Fighting Irish star is one of the best hitters in the sport. He posted a .343/.442/.584 slash line to start his college career with 19 home runs and 90 RBI.

CF - Jason Wachs

Wachs is an in-state transfer, coming in after starring in New Orleans for a couple of years. The expectation is that he is going to man center field, with Derek Curiel likely headed the Majors. He has slashed .331/.455/.531 over two seasons with the Green Wave. He hit nine home runs last season.

RF - Angel Laya

Laya is the pièce de résistance of this lineup. He was the latest addition and could have been the biggest. He is a future first-round pick in right field with a powerful arm and fantastic freshman production for the Oregon Ducks.
