Quinten Post Breaks Silence After Signing With Memphis Grizzlies

New Memphis Grizzlies big man Quinten Post reacted on Wednesday to joining his new team.

The Grizzlies signed him to a three-year deal this week to pull him away from the Golden State Warriors in restricted free agency.

In an Instagram story, Post acknowledged the deal and dropped a few words to show his excitement about heading to Memphis.

The former Boston College star has a lot to be excited about, as he landed a nice deal in free agency and will now get to continue his NBA career in Memphis. Post's deal is worth up to $30 million, though only one season is fully guaranteed. Some of that $30 million is also tied to incentives.

Regardless of the contract structure, it's a payday that he has earned after establishing himself as a solid role player in the NBA. Overlooked by many teams in the draft, Post was selected by the Warriors at No. 52 overall. He rewarded them by giving them valuable frontcourt minutes in the following two seasons.

As a rookie, he averaged 8.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while knocking down an impressive 40.8 percent of his 3-point attempts. That led to him getting playoff minutes, which then turned into a bigger role for him as a sophomore, where his production plateaued a bit but remained solid.

As is, he's a nice role player to have in the rotation for a team like the Grizzlies. But if he can reach another level in the coming seasons as he gains more experience at the NBA level, his deal with Memphis could prove to be a very good value.

Post is joining a revamped Grizzlies frontcourt that will feature a number of new faces, including rookie Cameron Boozer, who was just selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. The hope in Memphis has to be that Boozer will end up as the new face of the franchise in due time, and Post will get a chance to help the frontcourt effort in the process.

It isn't terribly common for a player to reach restricted free agency and end up with a new team when the dust settles, but that's how this one unfolded. The structure of Memphis' offer sheet to Post made it tricky for Golden State to match it, and that may be a key reason why the big man is going to be wearing a new uniform in the 2026-27 season.
