The Reading-Berks Association of Realtors (R-BAR) has announced that the seventh annual 5K Run for Shelter will be held on Oct. 3 at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area in Spring Township.

This community event brings runners, walkers, families, and local businesses together to support two vital housing organizations — Habitat for Humanity of Berks County and Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks Inc. Both nonprofits are dedicated to expanding access to safe, affordable housing and strengthening neighborhoods throughout Berks County.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply enjoying a morning outdoors with friends, the 5K Run for Shelter offers an opportunity to make every step count.

Participants will enjoy a flat, scenic course along the Union Canal Trail, professionally timed by Pretzel City Sports and open to all experience levels. From competitive runners to first-time walkers, everyone is welcome.

Beyond the race itself, participants will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact while enjoying a fun and memorable morning with the community:

• Support local housing initiatives: Every registration directly benefits programs that help families achieve stable housing.
