ARLINGTON, Texas - More often than not, when the Texas Rangers match up with the Seattle Mariners you're going to get a good pitching matchup.

On Saturday night at Globe Life Field, Nathan Eovaldi toed the rubber against Bryan Woo for the Mariners in a matchup of star pitchers.

It was the Rangers who got the better of Woo and the Mariners as Eovaldi dominated, helping his team to a 7-1 win.

Eovaldi was in command from the jump and cruised through his outing, going seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out eight.

“I thought my splitter was there at the beginning of the game, and I feel like that’s a good recipe for success for me,” Eovaldi said after the game.

“I felt like I was searching for the curveball for the majority of the game. I felt like the sixth and seventh inning I was finally able to find it and get some outs and strikeouts with it.”

It didn’t take long for the Rangers to get Eovaldi some run support as Texas struck for three runs in the first inning.

Ezequiel Duran got the scoring started with an RBI triple, followed by a run-scoring double off the bat of Evan Carter, and an RBI groundout from Nicky Lopez.

Wyatt Langford came through with an RBI double in the second inning and would later score on an RBI single from Duran, giving the Rangers a 5-0 lead.

Langford matched a season high with three hits, all coming off the bat at 98 MPH or more. However, in the seventh, Langford would leave the game after he fouled a pair of pitches off his shin/foot area earlier in the contest.

After the game, Langford got an X-ray, which came back negative and revealed that ice had stopped the swelling.

With the Rangers leading 5-1 in the seventh, Alejandro Osuna came through with a massive two-out, two-RBI double, which cracked open the game and allowed for manager Skip Schumaker to use Robby Ahlstrom and Ben Peoples to close out the night instead of his leverage arms.

“Osuna having that big hit was a big deal, so the fact that he got the double and opened it up, we ended up having a crooked number there allowing no Junis and no Latz and no Winn, so a couple guys are available tomorrow, which is great,” Schumaker said.

With the win, the Rangers push to two games above .500 at 53-51 and extend their lead in the American League West to two games. Texas also improves to 5-0 against the Mariners at Globe Life Field this season.
