From Saturday, May 30, to Saturday, June 6, the recruiting for class of 2027 has increased in size from seven to 14.

Hailing from Goodrich, Michigan, Drew Aagesen pledged his commitment to the Cyclones on May 30. Though he was a versatile standout on both sides of the ball in high school, Iowa State plans to utilize him as an offensive lineman. During his junior year, he demonstrated his defensive prowess with 11 sacks and 21 tackles for loss, while his athleticism also allowed him to contribute at tight end on offense. Ranked as the No. 21 prospect in Michigan, Aagesen chose Ames over several major programs, including Michigan State and Wisconsin, after the Cyclones became his first power-conference offer in March.

Safety Jordan Crider followed Aagesen’s lead by announcing his commitment on May 31. A 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect from Middletown, Ohio, Crider is considered the nation’s No. 114 safety for the class of 2027. Despite being limited to five games last season due to state transfer regulations, he managed four interceptions and 18 tackles. He also showcased offensive skills with three receiving touchdowns, ultimately choosing Iowa State over offers from Kentucky and Temple.

Jason Wooden, an athlete from Frisco, Texas, joined the program following an official visit in early June. While he spent his previous season as a wide receiver, recording 25 catches and two total touchdowns, he has embraced a move to the defensive side of the ball for the Cyclones. This transition to defense was a major factor in his commitment, as other programs like Richmond and North Dakota had been recruiting him to stay at receiver.

Salem Hills, Utah, native Cash Hollingshead committed to Iowa State’s 2027 class after a strong performance at a camp in Ames. The 6-foot-3 quarterback threw for over 1,000 yards last season and maintained an impressive 15-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Hollingshead noted that he feels his skill set is a perfect fit for the offensive system run by coordinator Tyler Roehl.

Joey Massey, a tight end from Green Bay, Wisconsin, flipped his commitment from Central Michigan to Iowa State on June 5. The 233-pound athlete is known for his versatility, having played multiple roles in high school. As a junior, he recorded 352 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while also being a defensive force with 48 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and four sacks.

Farmington, Missouri’s own linebacker Josh McCarthy accepted an offer on June 5 after months of working toward a Power-4 opportunity. As a junior at Farmington, McCarthy put up massive defensive statistics, including 119 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks. He was also a major threat on offense, hauling in nine touchdown passes and totaling 507 receiving yards.

On June 6, three-star prospect Blake Moser became the latest addition to the 2027 class. A current high school quarterback in Lake Stevens, Washington – where he accounted for over 3,400 total yards and 55 combined touchdowns last season – Iowa State plans to transition his elite speed to wide receiver.
