Report: Former Warrior signs with Shanghai Sharks in China
As the 2026-27 NBA season is nearing, a former member of the Golden State Warriors is opting to leave the association and play overseas. According to multiple reports, 11-year NBA veteran guard D'Angelo Russell is signing with the Shanghai Sharks in China's Chinese Basketball Association.
The 30-year old point guard began the 2025-26 season with the Dallas Mavericks, playing in 26 games with the franchise before being traded to the Washington Wizards. Russell was again traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in a six-team trade at the start of the summer in July. Prior to the start of the new season, Russell was waived by the Grizzlies. After being waived by Memphis, Russell agreed to a deal with the Shanghai Sharks.
