Bristol City have named Stevenage coach Neil Banfield as their new assistant manager.

Banfield has spent the past two seasons working with The Boro alongside manager Alex Revell.

The 64-year-old previously spent 21 years at Arsenal, including coaching their first-team during Arsene Wenger's tenure, while he has also worked on the staff at Charlton, QPR and Rangers.

He joins Michael Skubula's coaching staff alongside Ian Burchnall, who was also appointed assistant manager last month, first-team coach Alex Ball and goalkeeping coach Pat Mountain.

"He is a specialist in developing young players as well as a clear winner," said Bristol City sporting director James Ellis.

"His ability to connect with and challenge players makes him a brilliant addition."
