Rooftop cocktail bar Topa opens in Detroit’s Brush Park
Detroit has a swanky new rooftop bar just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
Topa is set to open Thursday on the 11th floor of the AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle in Brush Park.
Its menu features drinks like the Kalimotxo, a popular Spanish cocktail made from red wine and, in this case, cola spritz. There’s also the mezcal-based Cyprus and the Coastside, made with white wine, rum, peach, pineapple, and citrus honey.
The bar, whose name means “to toast” in Basque, also features a menu of Mediterranean- and California-inspired small plates by executive chef Jorge Morales, of Puerto Rico.
Dishes include seared halloumi cheese, crispy bacalao croquettes, fish and chicken skewers, and lamb chops, among others.
“Topa represents the next chapter of the hospitality experience at the AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle,” James Van Dyke, president of parent company the Roxbury Group, said in a statement. “Our vision was to create a space that feels transportive, a place where guests can slow down, connect and enjoy an atmosphere inspired by the California coast while still being surrounded by the energy of Detroit.”
The space also draws from influences closer to home, built from reclaimed wood from the historic Cadillac Hotel in Lexington, Michigan.
The AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle is located at 10 Eliot St., Detroit. More information is available at instagram.com/topadetroit.
