Russia launched another large-scale overnight air assault on Ukraine, using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, causing civilian casualties and damage in several cities, Ukrainian authorities reported on Sunday.

Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that a 40-year-old woman had been killed and that nine others were injured, including a 10-year-old boy.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least three people were injured there.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that Russian strikes caused fires in three districts of Kyiv, all of which were later extinguished. It said the fires had damaged a warehouse, 11 vehicles and buildings.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that eight missiles and cruise missiles and 136 drones had been used in the attack.

Over the past week, Russia had launched nearly 1,700 drones, more than 1,630 guided glide bombs and 95 missiles and cruise missiles, he said.

More than half of those missiles, he said, were ballistic missiles. Zelensky accused Russia of conducting "ballistic terror."

He argued that it was vital for Ukraine's partners to deliver air defence systems and interceptor missiles without delay.

"Every interceptor missile saves lives when it is in Ukraine rather than sitting in our partners' warehouses," he said.

Ukraine has been warding off a full-scale Russian invasion since February 2022.
