Saints 2026 Training Camp Preview: New faces in kicker competition

Kicker can sometimes be an overlooked position in every level of football. However, teams that take the position for granted do so at their own peril. Just ask the New Orleans Saints, who have had some major kicking issues in recent years. After mostly reliability and stability from Wil Lutz for six seasons, the Saints handed the kicking job over to Blake Grupe in 2023. Grupe was solid on the surface for the first two years, though he did miss some costly field goals. Last season, the bottom dropped out, leading to Grupe's release. The Saints now come into 2026 training camp with a competition at placekicker. Our training camp previews continue with a look at said competition.
